This picture makes me happy every time I see it. They look so cute in their raincoats! The men in the photograph dedicate their lives to taking care of them at Kenya’s Nairobi National Park, specifically in a nursery for elephants without parents. Men and women rescue them from poachers and other human conflicts. They raise the elephants until they no longer depend on milk before sending them off. I hear stories of them going through toddler-like tantrums as a result of their trauma from being attacked or watching their family die. They feel emotions really deeply and some die from grief. We don’t really have elephants in Ethiopia, they live mostly along the border with Kenya and of course south into their country.
